Technical Editor

Spend your days

The Technical Editor will support the development and editing of technical, sometimes data-heavy, government and company documents, such as guides, presentations, policy analyses, reports, and workbooks. The Technical Editor will make sure that all materials are accurate, clear, and concise; written in plain language in accordance with federal writing style guidelines; free of typographical, grammatical, spelling, punctuation, formatting, and other errors; and visually appealing and user-friendly.

Bring with you

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) from an accredited school.
  • At least two years of experience editing in a technical field.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • A deadline-driven and client-focused attitude.
  • Ability to work with little oversight and to anticipate needs.
  • Knowledge of various style manuals and guidelines.
  • Extensive experience working with Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work quickly and precisely under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at any given time.
  • Experience with Excel, Section 508 compliance, and Adobe Photoshop not required but a plus. 
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance.
  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination status

Location: This could be an office-based telecommuting position or a fully remote position. For an office-based telecommuting position, personnel must live within one hour of our Charlottesville office. For this to be a fully remote position, candidates must live within the Washington D.C., Metropolitan area. No relocation package.
